Evocative, warm, homely, timeless - words that are aspirational in a residential design context, yet central to everything we do. Our homes impact our lives more than most realise, and we see our role as making a positive, long-lasting contribution not only to our clients, but to the neighborhoods and communities in which we work.

We do not see residential buildings as isolated entities, but as respectful residents of their immediate locale, street and city. To truly complement their surroundings, a home must be enduring and carefully resolved. We marry our design ethos with a pragmatic understanding of cost, construction and building technology, ensuring the homes and spaces we imagine are sustainable, buildable and delivered with integrity. BIO

Architektura, at its core, means ‘to create’ and is reflective of our ethos and the European roots of our team.

We are a collection of architects, interior designers and project delivery professionals. attuned to space, texture and form and uniquely, ‘making it happen’. This melding of minds and approach ensures we craft beautiful conceptual ideas, but critically understand the technical, structural, personal and practical factors of making those ideas a reality.

Led by Aiste and Darren, our Melbourne-based studio emphasises design as a process, deep collaboration and acknowledges the personal nature of the residential projects we focus on. We work closely with our clients to deeply understand their needs, craft elevated solutions then leverage our relationships with builders, suppliers and artisans to execute.

Supported by a small but dedicated team committed to their craft, our work seeks a dialogue between space, form and light, of detail and craftsmanship, of enduring design and above all else, of home.

Darren ensures that our architectural vision is grounded in commercial reality. With a background in architecture and a Masters in Project Management, he brings a rare skillset to the design studio: a rigorous understanding of construction methodology, cost planning, and contract administration. Darren acts as the client’s strategic advocate leading up to and during the build - managing the tender process and overseeing the builder to protect the quality, budget, and timeline of the project

Aiste leads the design direction of the studio, bringing a refined European sensibility to Australian residential contexts. Her focus is on the emotional resonance of space - how light, volume, and material come together to create a sense of sanctuary. Aiste drives the architectural vision, ensuring that every project responds sensitively to its site and deeply to the client’s narrative

Our Ethos

Many memoirs begin with a house. A place of stories, memory, and meaning—a setting for family, belonging, and sanctuary. We believe great design quietly shapes the way we live, often more profoundly than we realise. For us, the home is one of the most honest and expressive forms of architecture—and the heart of our studio’s work.

We are drawn to spaces that are clear, robust, and refined—where restraint meets poetry. We value simplicity not as an absence, but as a thoughtful presence: spaces that surprise, bring joy, and above all, feel like home. Yet, we know that the most poetic spaces rely on the most pragmatic foundations. We pursue strong conceptual ideas, but ground them in a deep commitment to technical precision and buildability.

Our work is driven by process and purpose, not by trends or form for its own sake. Every project is a response—to place, brief, budget, and context. We design at the scale of the human experience, ensuring materials and details are considered with care, reflecting both the spirit of the place and the realities of the site.

And finally, if we’re in, we’re all in. We view design as a holistic journey, spanning Architecture, Interiors, and Landscape, right through to construction delivery. We stay closely involved from the first sketch to the final handover, acting as your advocate on site. We are here to see thoughtful, beautiful homes not just imagined, but successfully built.
